40 Days For Life

September 24, 2008

The Fall 2008 campaign of 40 Days for Life begins tonight at 12:00 am September 24. For the next 40 days participants in more than 170 cities will peacefully protest abortion and raise awareness for the rights of the unborn in America.

Participants will engage in prayer & fasting, maintain a constant vigil outside of more than 170 facilities, and engage in large community outreach to bring light to this very dark issue.

This community based campaign began in Bryan/College Station, Texas in 2004. This first 40 days for Life campaign activated 1,000 people and led directly to a 28% decline in abortions in their community.

More communities took part and in 2007 the first National 40 Days for Life campaign took place. This new campaign marks the third event of the National 40 Days for Life.

“40 Days for Life takes a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. It puts into action a desire to cooperate with God in the carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion in America.”

“The mission of the campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion in America.”

Did you know “Jane Roe” of Roe V. Wade is a real person? Her name Norma McCorvey. Did you know she is now a huge Pro-life and Rights for the Unborn advocate with her own pro-life ministry. Here is what she says about 40 days for Life:

“I hope and I pray deep in my heart that you will join us in this 40 days of prayer and fasting and help us overturn Roe v. Wade, because we didn’t have a choice in the beginning with the Supreme Court justices — they decided it for us.”
